Description Janet 2016-03-28 00:48:11 UTC
It doesn't matter which icon size I use in krusader's settings, it is ignored, krusader (root, user) always uses the same small icon size.

Reproducible: Always

Can't replicate your problem (Kubuntu 14.04.4 live). Can you reset krusaderrc config file? It's in ~/.kde/share/config directory. Icon size it saved at program quit and it is restored successfully.

It did work with Kubuntu 14.04 - but I use 15.10 with Plasma 5. The icon size is still stored in krusaderrc but krusader does not respect it...

I can reproduce that on 2 machines...

I guess my fault is that I expect krusader to use the icon size specified in its settings dialog. Now I see there is more than one icon size entry in krusaderrc. The icon size for the panels seems not to be affected by krusader's settings. The setting only changes the icon size for [KrInterDetailedView] and [KrInterBriefView] - but that does not affect the size of the icons in the panels.

Excerpt of krusaderrc:
------------------
[KrInterBriefView]
IconSize=32

[KrInterDetailedView]
IconSize=32

[Main Toolbar]
IconSize=32

[Startup][Left Tab Bar][Tabs][Tab0][View]
IconSize=22

[Startup][Right Tab Bar][Tabs][Tab0][View]
IconSize=22
-----------------

When I use the button for enlarging the icons grow in size. And that size is remembered by krusader and stored in [Startup][Left Tab Bar][Tabs][Tab0][View] and [Startup][Right Tab Bar][Tabs][Tab0][View].

"Worksforme" so far... But shouldn't the settings for the icons' size change the panel icons' size? If yes, it's broken. If not, it's useless and should be removed....

Every tab has its own icon size. When you change one of them, it's saved locally. You can set the default icon size in both views in Konfigurator (brief and detailed), but it affects only the new tabs, not the ones already existing.

That does work.

It works too - explained that way.
But that's the confusing part which led to this report as it is not evident. Looking into the settings one expects that the size settings change especially the current view (without the need to change every single tab/panel) plus all future tabs.

I can close this as WORKSFORME - but I'd rather would like to change it to a request (wish) for changing the informational text in the icon size settings as the usage is not obvious? A short addition like "for new tabs" or "(for new tabs only)" would make it clear.

I would say its clear because the option is named "Default(!) icon size:" ...

As you can see, obviously not ;). For me the definition of "default" is not clear enough. Default of/for what? My definition of default is standard/overall/normal/concerning everything, the meant definition is preset for new tabs.
