Often I just need a quick reference from the web, I don't really want to download the image so I can use it with Reference docker. Think about people that go though reference quickly, they would just copy and paste the url. Well it is at least something to consider.
Well... Krita would have to download the image every time you'd want to see it, or cache it, so it would end up on your disk in any case. But I think it's actually quite a good idea, and fits the general improvements we want for the reference images docker. WISHGROUP: Small Usability Fixes

I have a lot of ram, it can go in /tmp/ or other ram storage method. When krita closes the ref image can be deleted. Maybe there can be an option between cache in ram or being stored on disk. I wish I had time ill help u guys
We are currently replacing the reference images docker with a tool that will handle reference images placed on the canvas, around the image, so this wish isn't relevant anymore. The reference images will also be saved as part of your project, or in a separate set.
