Description Sergei Gureev 2016-02-26 08:48:03 UTC
I've got KMail connected to both Gmail and Exchange servers.
When I receive mail with build-in images, they are displayed as attachments and in message's body there is only an empty frame.
If launch kmail in console, I can see following errors every time I open message with such image:
couldn't create slave: "Unable to create io-slave:\nklauncher said: Unknown protocol «cid».\n"

If I open such message in message editor, images are displayed correctly.

I'm used to face this bug also on OpenSuse, and now I'm getting it on ArchLinux.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get e-mail with attached (build-in) image
2. Select this e-mail in message list
3. Look into message view section.

Actual Results:
Images are missing, there are only empty frames for them

Expected Results:
Images are displayed correctly

Thanks!

I look at your email and there is not problem here.
I know that I fixed a problem with embedded image some week ago.
I think that it fixed it too.
Comment 4 Sergei Gureev 2016-03-10 13:23:26 UTC
I hope so.

In which release will your changes be included?
Comment 5 Sergei Gureev 2016-03-16 04:25:13 UTC

Mail not displayed correctly

I added a mail from our bug-tracking system jira which contains cid images and is not displayed correctly.

The bug is not fixed in version 5.12.2-15.1.
Comment 7 Laurent Montel 2016-03-17 10:26:21 UTC
For me it works fine here (5.2) I didn"t test in 5.1.3 but for sure in 5.2 it works.
Comment 8 Daniele 2016-03-17 20:29:29 UTC
Opensuse Tumbleweed here with kmail 5.1.3 from kdepim 15.12.3 running on frameworks 5.20.0 and the bug persist.

Ciao
Daniele

The same problem on kmail 5.1.3 from kdepim 15.12.3 (kubuntu 16.04)

couldn't create slave: "Unable to create io-slave:\nklauncher said: Unknown protocol 'cid'.\n"
Comment 11 Sergei Gureev 2016-04-26 07:18:58 UTC
Bug seems to be fixed in kmail 16.04
Comment 12 Daniele 2016-04-26 10:03:03 UTC
Fixed in kmail 16.04 on OpenSuse Tumbleweed.

I'm sorry to open the bug again.

The image of the CID will shown in text-view at the bottom of the mail.

If you enter html-view, the image of the CID will not shown. For example [cid:image001.png@01D66AF3.EA9EC840].
But you can save the image to a file.

Also the image will not shown, if you change to text-view again.

I can send an example if needed.

Might be the same as bug#423267 which should be fixed in kontact 5.15.0 (20.08.0).
Which version are you using?
Comment 15 Volker Helm 2020-08-18 06:30:40 UTC
Thanks, the Release 5.15.0 solved the problem.

Btw. I'm using Arch Linux, so there was no big deal for the update.

So I close this bug as fixed
