The new 'screen-wide' leave dialog is really a disaster from a usage perspective. Ok, i can agree with a new breeze of display-style. But: Why are the buttons for choosing 'reboot/logout/poweroff' at the rightmost side of the screen? In kde4, you could choose upfront (in a context menu on the desktop) what kind of action you would like to perform. Now, you select 'leave'. Then you are forced to move the mouse to the far right screen edge, select som suspiciously small icons, then you need to return to the middle of the screen and press/click the button to initiate the action (ok, the last step could be sped up by pressing return) Still, someone new to the system and using it 'mouse-only' has - especially with big displays nowadays - has some lengthy distances to go before he can logoff/reboot/powerdown. Why not putting all clickable parts into the center of the screen? This would be soooo much better... Your opinions? Reproducible: Always
I agree, if we just open the generic Leave dialog where you have to choose, in contrast to the launcher where you directly choose Shutdown/Reboot/Logout, we should perhaps show the options next to each other; ie. three large icons in the center. But that's up to the designers - they're working on a new look right now, so this is something to keep in mind.
There is currently a redesign of all screens "around" Plasma (from GRUB to shutdown) in progress, so the leave dialog will be tackled as well.
I'd certainly add my 2c here and ask about keyboard usability, too. In Plasma 4, the leave dialog could be traversed with the arrow keys for selecting the action (logout/shutdown/reboot), spacebar to open the submenus for, e.g. suspend to ram & suspend to disk (not present any more by the looks of it) and return to confirm the action. In the current implementation, I've to play the Tab game whilst looking very closely and the much too subtle button highlight until I get to, say, the shutdown button on the right, then Tab back to the Cancel/Shutdown pair of buttons in the middle. TL;DR: Please restore the old keyboard flow or something as usable. Thanks :).
The new design is now merged. It doesn't put the icons in the exact place they were in $someOldVersion, but they're a bit closer. Tab key should work. Left, right won't - just like literally every other KDE application. If you have a specific bug about an element's focus not being visible on tab please file a specific report on that. Thanks.
