Description George Sicherman 2016-02-13 21:31:42 UTC
I could not preview, view, or move a certain message that I had sent yesterday. I restarted Kmail. All messages were listed. None were accessible. After I restarted Akonadi, all the messages were accessible except the one that had not been accessible before. The message is a short text message with a small PNG file attached. The GUI does show a paper clip for the message.

I get this message at the bottom of the GUI: "Unable to fetch item from backend (collection 5) : Unable to retrieve item from resource : NO payload size mismatch".

Kmail appears to be receiving new messages normally and displaying them normally.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Bring up Kmail.
2. Try to preview, view, or move the single message in my sent-mail folder.
3. An error message appears at the bottom of the window, and the message does not appear or is not moved.

Actual Results:
See "Details".

Expected Results:
It should have displayed a preview of the message, let me view it in a separate window, and let me move it to another folder.

After a few minutes, Kmail has ceased to access all messages. It also appears to be storing unlimited duplicates of new messages.
Comment 2 George Sicherman 2016-02-13 21:38:01 UTC
However, the little popup windows that show Name, Date, etc., are working normally, even for the message that I originally could not access.
Comment 3 George Sicherman 2016-02-13 21:40:14 UTC
One more detail: I am running XFCE 4, not KDE.
Comment 4 George Sicherman 2016-02-13 22:09:40 UTC
One more detail, but an important one: one of my application programs had inadvertently filled up /home. This would accoutn for all the erratic behavior of Kmail.

Thank you for reporting this bug in KDE software. As it has been a while since this issue was reported, can we please ask you to see if you can reproduce the issue with a recent software version?

If you can reproduce the issue, please change the status to "CONFIRMED" when replying. Thank you!

I doubt that I can reproduce this old bug. I have not used Kmail for years. I may as well mark this bug RESOLVED.
