Description Hornung.lisa 2016-02-12 12:53:31 UTC
If I want have a look to the documentation of K3b, it shows a site "Documentation not found". I have checked the possibilities of solution. To install the package kdepim-doc was not the solution. In the Userbase is a documentation available. Should it be so? Or its only forgotten?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Help -> Handbook of K3b
2.
3.

Actual Results:
It shows the site "documentation not found"

Expected Results:
It shows the documentation of K3b

I use 3 KDE-Programmes (and the necessary components of KDE 4.4.1) with Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon and german Language-packs. With the documentation of the other 2 programmes I have not any problem.

kdepim-doc has nothing to do with k3b.

Can you please add more details about the system? There is no KDE 4.4.1 in Mint 17.3. Please state the versions of k3b and khelpcenter (and the other details in the about dialog, like version of kdelibs), and also the versions of all the packages related to k3b
(quick way: paste the output of
dpkg -l '*k3b*'
)

Comment 7 Luigi Toscano 2016-02-19 22:23:28 UTC
I checked the state on Mint 12.3. This distribution is based on Ubuntu 14.04, with some extra packages. The packages which provide k3b (k3b, k3b-data and k3b-i18n) are taken directly from Ubuntu repositories. Unfortunately that specific version (2.0.2-7ubuntu1) does not provide translated documentation, and moreover the Ubuntu package does not ship even the English documentation (which was otherwise part of the sources available for packagers).

The newer versions of k3b packages on Ubuntu contain the English documentation, but it is unlikely that they will be backported to that version of Ubuntu (and then available for Mint 12.3). Also, even those newer packages on Ubuntu do not contain translated documentation (which is not available).

In any case, this is not something that it is possible to fix on our side (kde.org). You can still access the documentation online also from our website:
http://docs.kde.org

and specifically, the English version here:
https://docs.kde.org/index.php?application=k3b
and the German one here:
https://docs.kde.org/index.php?application=k3b&language=de
