Description Nikola Schnelle 2016-02-11 18:48:44 UTC
Regressions:
1) No nice "zoom in" or "scale in" effect when hovering over windows (when using "present windows" when you hover over window, the window is smoothly zoomed in).
2) When you click on some window in desktop grid, window jumps at the end of animation.
3) When you click on empty space on the desktop (space not occupied with present windows), window don't "jump" at the end of animation.

Because this is hard to explain, here is the video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pejzh8l2mhbb4hg/desktop%20grid%20effect?dl=0

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
Chosen window in desktop grid not to jump at the end of animation.

The 3rd "regression" I listed above is not regression, it is expected
behaviour. Sorry about that.

Comment 2 Thomas Lübking 2016-02-11 19:05:58 UTC
1. isn't exactly a regression, there was no zoom at all. Animating it would be a rather complex change to the effect, thus wasn't in the cards.
2. should be fixed by (not yet upstreamed) https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/126434/ - feel free to try =)

Plasma 5.5.5 is out but still no solution to this bug (and 359668)
Comment 5 Thomas Lübking 2016-03-02 09:34:23 UTC
The bug will be closed and marked fixed once the linked patch is approved and pushed.
You and Nikola will receive a mail as soon as this happens.
Comment 6 Stefano Galeazzi 2016-03-30 08:25:51 UTC
Commit 5fecaf3fe7699886928fbc160dc69ea1da5ac8c1 (plasma 5.6.1) solved the problem! :)
Comment 7 Thomas Lübking 2016-03-31 07:50:57 UTC
The zoom effect has simply been reverted instead of improved by
https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kwin.git&a=commit&h=746fc49bb6a3e0b0102562b13d8de19016599e65

Nb. that I left KDE & KWin.

:(
This is not april's fool, right?

You are the friendliest and the most helpful kde guy (dev) I "met".
I am very sad to see you leaving kwin&kde.

This issue report is quite old. Can you please confirm, that it still persists with KDE 5.23?
