Description seballa 2016-02-10 14:03:07 UTC
Hi,

while testing stability on windows I was supriesed how good Digikam runs. However after a while it wouldn't start anymore. The Window appears but it doesn't respond at all.

I invested some time to find the reason with try and error comparing config files. I found out, that the programm works fine as soon as I take out one single line:

 StatusBar=Disabled

under [General Settings] in the config file C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\.kde\share\config\digicamrc
Changing it to enabled also does the trick.

Greetings

Seballa

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Digicam
2. Disable Stautsbar and close
3. Open Digicam

I tried to repoduce this on a different machine both are running Windows10. On the second Machine the problem is not showing up. On the other system I tried a complete remove, and reinstall as well as removing programms I installed in the last weeks. Here the problem is still there.

Did you reproduce the dysfunction under Windows using current digiKam 6.0.0 Windows installer ?

Since digiKam 5.0.0, with the port to Qt5, under Windows, the digiKam rc file is now located at C:\Users\user\AppData\local\digikamrc

1/ I start digiKam (version 6.0.0 pre release under Windows 7).
2/ I disable the status bar through the settings menu. The stats bar disappear from main window.
3/ I stop digiKam. "StatusBar=Disabled" is well written in digikamrc file into [General Settings] section.
4/ I restart digiKam. The application appear without status bar and wiyhout run-time problem.
5/ I remove the line with "StatusBar=Disabled" from digikamrc file.
6/ I restart digiKam. The status bar re-appear on the bottom. No problem.

So this old dysfunction is now fixed...

 and re-start it.
