Description philippe.quaglia 2016-02-07 16:09:00 UTC
I have a strange behaviour with the icons on the two laterals bars: only few of them are showing up. For example, on left side, i do not see the «album» icon, but if I click on the bar, I can make it appear. I have the same with the right bar, for example with the «filter» icon.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I do not see all the icons on the left and right bar
2. They can appear if I click on the right empty place in the bar
3. They disappear when i use another tool

Actual Results:
See the screen captures

Did you install Brezze icon theme on your computer ?

Which desktop did you use ? Plasma 5 ? KDE 4 ? Gnome ?

Comment 5 philippe.quaglia 2016-02-08 18:36:55 UTC
I'm working with a standard Ubuntu installation, therefore the desktop is Unity. I do not know if I have Brezze icon theme. How may I check or install it ?
Regards.
Comment 6 philippe.quaglia 2016-02-13 15:24:08 UTC
Today I made a new test after installing Breeze Icons (sudo apt-get install breeze-icon-theme) but I get exactly the same result.
Comment 7 Maik Qualmann 2016-02-13 17:50:30 UTC
Can you in the settings from Ubuntu select the Breeze icon theme? Or KF5 tool "systemsettings5" install and select the Breeze icon theme?

Comment 10 philippe.quaglia 2016-02-14 20:19:46 UTC
Hello, I made a test (still with beta 3) after having applied the Breeze icons to Ubuntu, and then, Digikam work properly. Great !
However it seems the icon set is not really complete, and in many places, I get an ugly display. But Digikam is fine.
I wiil report my tests as soon as beta 4 is available.
Regards.

Philippe,

If Breeze icon collection is not suitable due to lack of visual contrast, please report this problem to Breeze team into KDE bugzilla.

digiKam team is not in charge of icons set...

Comment 12 Simon 2016-03-23 23:24:33 UTC
I have the same problem. While it is now possible with gilles commit to
choose Breeze icons, they are not complete (e.g. Light Table and Editor
Window icons in settings are missing) and the icons are very different
from digikam 4.14 (packaged version of debian repos in xfce):
http://i.imgur.com/AcxniJ5.png while digikam 5 (from source in debian
chroot without any DE): http://i.imgur.com/m9zMHdy.png. Any idea what
the icons in the 4.14 version are?
Also if I wasn't aware of this bug report, I would never have found this
option in the miscellaneous section of the settings. This should work
out of the box.

Yes, the icons for Light Table and Editor is still missing in Breeze icon theme. I'll report to the Breeze team. The Breeze icon theme is the standard for KF5. Only the Breeze icon theme has all the icons needed for digiKam. I see the icon theme option in the miscellaneous section at the moment as a workaround for not KF5 desktops.
Which Icon theme use you on the desktop?

Comment 14 Simon 2016-03-24 20:19:15 UTC
Strangely with digikam 4.14 from debian repo I get all icons and they do
not look like breeze. And I use tango icon theme, but changing it to
something different (e.g. gnome) does not change the icons within
digikam 4.14. Maybe there is some icon magic in the debian package :)

4.14 included a lots of icons in digiKam core. In 5.0, all have been removed, accordingly with Breeze team meet at Randa event in 2015.

In fact, in digiKam we will code, not design icons. Breeze team are designers group.

Hello,

I wanted to report this, but well... did my homework and found this thread :-)
Problem solved! :-) (with Settings/Configure Digikam/Miscellaneous/Icon theme = Breeze)

Kind of weird that one has to do this though...
And: the icons don't look pretty good... Hope the 'Breeze Team' will come up with a different contribution...?

And just so happy everything is very functional...! (for now... ;-) )

Greetz, b.
