I recently reinstalled Krita onto my laptop, it is using a ‘intel core i3’ and runs on Microsoft windows 7. Following the reinstallation of the program the canvas now displays black. Notes: 1. I did not update the version of Krita I was using, nor- did my drivers get updated at this time. 2. Upon reading about the Black Screen of Death I tried to fix the problem by updating the drivers. This did not produce any changes. BSOD remains. 3. In an attempt to thwart the BSOD I removed Krita again and downloaded, uninstalled, and reinstalled, three different versions of Krita, each progressively older. This had no effect. BSOD now affects ALL versions of Krita. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. download Krita onto a computer using Windows 7 with an intel i3 core 2. open krita, see black screen of death. 3. (cry) optional. Actual Results: Black screen of death still persists Expected Results: shown a white canvas as it had in the past. I read a lot of the blogs saying that you need to do ‘Update the drivers’ and/or a ‘driver is broken- came that way from the manufacturer’ This is NOT the case. Krita was working fine, white canvas, no sluggish reactions, nothing. The black screen of death only came to pass AFTER I installed the same version of Krita I was previously running.
If you believe it's not related to the drivers the best solution would be to reset the configuration: https://userbase.kde.org/Krita/Manual/FAQ#Resetting_Krita_configuration (As a reinstall does nothing) If so, could you sent us the renamed kritarc file? We'd like to take a peek at what happened.
I attempted the suggested reset- unfortunately Krita ignored the command, and no pop up appeared. I attempted variations of hold duration for the combo but with no results- Krita would just open, unfortunately.

setting this to needsinfo for now.
This is still an opengl/driver problem and Krita 3.0 might have fixed it. We haven't had any black screen reports for 3.0.
