Description John Ridgway 2016-02-01 18:48:15 UTC
I have imported Photoshop files and find that if, in Krita, i have added a layer then saved the file as a Photoshop document (or exported the file as a Photoshop document), the file will not load in Photoshop and gives me an "end of file not found" message

Hi John,

We did have some Photoshop-related bug fixes in 2.9.10, but we're hunting a bug with group layers. Nobody has yet been able to give us test files, though, so if you could please attach your original photoshop file, the .kra file you can save after importing in Krita and the psd krita saved, maybe we can finally figure out what's up!

Oh -- and if it's private, you can also mail it to us directly: foundation@krita.org, and I'll only share it with Dmitry who might be able to fix the bug.

test 1.psd

Hello Boudewijn,

I could not send the original file as it was 115 Mb and too large for my e-mail provider to handle.

I have, therefore, produced a test file.

Test.psd is originally produced and consists of two layers. Top layer multiply mode. Bottom layer normal mode (as a layer for colouring).

I saved an identical copy of this as test 1.psd and loaded this in Krita where I added another layer and moved this layer to bottom. No further work was dome and I then exported the file as a Photoshop documant.

On attempting to load this file in Photoshop, loading failed and gave me a message stating end of file was not found. The file will, however, re-load into Krita!

Since reporting thepossible bug to yourselves, I attempted to load the test 1.psd file into Gimp. This loaded successfully. I then saved the file as test 2.psd.

Test 2.psd will load into Photoshop.

I hope this description and the attached test files help.

Having seen the excellent work of David Revoy and others, I am interested in getting to use Krita but my current workload does not give me time to get down to fully understanding the program.

Best regards,

John R.

Dmitry has started a phabricator task for this issue:

https://phabricator.kde.org/T1516

If we find a fix, I think it will warrant another 2.9 release.

Confirming since it's on phabricator
Comment 9 Halla Rempt 2016-08-23 16:28:34 UTC
I think we did fix this since then, since I can follow your instructions and load the psd file in photoshop (cs2).

I have installed later versions of Krita and found the problem is no longer evident. I had assumed it was found to be a quick fix.

Best regards,

John Ridgway
