There's an apparent blank space in the system tray. It appeared after I upgraded from 5.4.3 to 5.5.4 It can be hidden in the system tray settings which moves it under the small arrow, but then clicking on it crashes Plasma. Right-click on it does nothing. Reproducible: Always Expected Results: No blank space, only valid tray icons. Opensuse Leap 42.1, KDE Frameworks 5, KDE Extra and KDE apps repositories.

The blank space disappears when I uncheck 'Application status' in the system tray settings.
I think that blank icon may come from a traditional xembed item translates to a statusnotifier? Can you provide a backtrace of the crash?
Could you navigate me how to provide you with one? The blank space is there all the time.
I found out the culprit. It's the service xembedsniproxy. If I kill it then the blank space disappears. Restarting the service however does not make the blank space reappear.

I'm seeing the same blank space. Plasma 5.5.4. I don't have any crash though, and killing xembedsniproxy also makes it disappear.
Systemtray implementation is changed, this should be one of the problems fixed.
I can confirm this problem has disappeared with the latest update. Thank you.
