Description Matthew Ullrey 2016-01-22 07:19:41 UTC
Not only the .jpeg from the scanner fails to open, but many other .jpeg documents crash Krita. What is interesting is the same files that crash the Mac OS version of Krita also crash the Windows 2.9.10 version of Krita. I have found a few .jpeg files that do open, but what makes them different escapes me.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Krita 2.9.9 (git 37acd3c) on Mac OS.
2. Choose "File/Open" and browse to .jpeg file.
3. Select the file and click the Open button.

Actual Results:
The file starts to load and then Krita crashes and produces the Problem Report for Krita window.

Expected Results:
The software should have opened the .jpeg and allowed me to make all of the marvelous Krita adjustments to the artwork.

I also downloaded the Windows 64bit version of Krita 2.9.10 and recreated the same crash with the same .jpeg file.
I opened the .jpeg in the Preview application and copied the image to the clipboard. When I created a new document from the clipboard in Krita and saved it as a .jpeg I was able to close and open the new .jpeg without error.

Hi Matthew,

Could you please attach one of the jpeg files that crashes Krita -- I haven't been able to reproduce a crash with the jpeg's I have, so I suspect the scanner is adding some broken metadata that makes Krita or libjpeg crash.

The two files: one crashes the other opens just fine.

The first file "*02.jpeg" will crash Krita, but the second file "*02a.jpeg" was created in Krita from the clipboard and works just fine.

Hm, I tested with 2.9.10 on Windows 10, and there it opened fine. With 2.9.10 on OSX, Krita complained that the jpeg file was not in a normal colorspace for jpeg and loaded it as grayscale with your scanner's Gray profile -- but I didn't get a crash.

The 3.0 pre-alpha loaded it fine as well.

i have the same problem on osx 10.11.5.

the attached files open/crash as described. I'll attach a stack trace and another jpeg that doesn't work (came from a phone camera).

Hi Adam,

That file of yours works for me with 3.0 on El Capitan. 3.0 is going to be officially released tomorrow.
Comment 8 Halla Rempt 2016-05-30 06:33:26 UTC
And 3.0 also loads the files in the first attachment.
