One thing in the recent versions of Kdenlive I've found is that when applying a Wipe transition, it acts like the dissolve transition by default. I'd suggest having it start off with the linear_x.png image file to make it behave like a wipe right off the bat.

I'd also suggest changing the text "Image File" to the left of the field to something like "Wipe Method", "Wipe Style" -- something less techy and more film-esque. I'd personally lean towards Wipe Method.

Tested on Kdenlive 15.13.0.r6934.4f775c7-1 using Antergos (Arch) Linux x64, GNOME 3.18.2.
