I can't get Ctrl+Tab to switch tabs in a window even though I have set the command as the global shortcut for the operation Switching tab, in System Settings. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open System Settings and set the global shortcut for Step through window tabs to Ctrl+Tab. 2. Apply the change. 3. Open e.g. Firefox, and create a few tabs. Try to switch between them with Ctrl+Tab. Actual Results: No tab switching occurred. Expected Results: Switched tab.
Firefox is no KDE application. If you want configurable shortcuts in Firefox, please use the issue tracker of Mozilla.
(In reply to Christoph Feck from comment #1) > Firefox is no KDE application. If you want configurable shortcuts in > Firefox, please use the issue tracker of Mozilla. As I wrote, Firefox is just one example. The inability to switch tabs with Ctrl+Tab concerns every application I have tested.
The action you configured is for switching tabbed (grouped) windows. If you are using the KWin window manager, and a decoration able to show grouped windows (e.g. Oxygen), then you can use the configured shortcut to switch between the tabs in all applications.
I do not know what grouped windows are. In KDE 4.5.1 I could switch tabs with Ctrl+Tab using the setting mentioned. I use Oxygen.
I have installed Debian 8 and KDE 4.14.2 on an Acer laptop computer, and on that computer I can switch tabs as expected. Is the above bug really a bug in SolydK and not in KDE? Because I now have KDE 4.14.2 also on the SolydK computer but still I can't switch tabs as expected.
After installing Debian 8.5 on my first computer I can now switch tabs as expected. The bug seems to have been caused by SolydK.
