Description slartibart70 2016-01-03 01:10:02 UTC
Installing libreOffice 5.0.4 (fedora repos) in plasma5.
Open writer, create a new document, open sidebar (for the font settings dialog panel)
Now, hover over some drop-down widgets, e.g. the font name or font size drop-down. Change the settings by using the mouse wheel on top of the font-name (the edit-field of the widget) or on top of the font size.
Problem is, that new entries are painted on top of the existing entries, so scrolling some more gives you a blacked-out edit field because all different font size numbers (or font names) do overlay each other.
A refresh of the window (e.g. maximize) fixes the problem.

This is NOT libreOffice related, because this does not happen in gnome or cinnamon (same computer, only multiple desktop environments).
This is purely a problem of plasma5, i checked with a fresh installation of fedora23-kde spin - same problem...

Reproducible: Always

but but but
Is this really breeze gtk theme ?
To me at least it looks more like "something else". Adwaita ?
Also, for libreoffice, you could use the KDE variant (Qt frontend). It has made a lot of progress, and renders reasonably well with breeze@Qt, unlike what was the case with oxygen (due to all the oxygen fancyness)
Comment 7 slartibart70 2016-01-12 15:28:19 UTC
sounds great, how would you do that? (using qt frontend for LO)?
Any hints are appreciated...

I "think" you need to set
OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde

(or make sure you do not have a OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome somewhere)

Not 100% sure anymore though

tried it (and checked with the internet-search engine of my choice :-)
buuut: does not seem to work, same gui representation (at least i did not notice any changes), same problem.

i did:
$ OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde libreoffice --writer
and
$ export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde
$ libreoffice --writer
