screenshot of Date Time format settings

My primary system language is English. But for the Date/Time format I wish to have the German settings.

Strangely in the date time format kcm there is only "Germany (nds_DE)" available in the list box (see screenshot). And when I choose it, my system language changes to Dutch for most Plasma programs (also see screenshot).

I used the "Preferred Languages" settings (see screenshot 2) to make English the first language and German the second. Now many Plasma programs are German, others are English. I would have expected that all programs are English because it is the first language in the list box.

The reason why the only German regional setting you see is Platt (nds_DE), might be because de_DE is called "Deutschland - Deutsch", not "Germany".

Regarding the twisted results in other programs and on the console:

Yes, this it it. Thanks!
Comment 8 Dennis Schridde 2016-02-21 17:32:42 UTC
I wont consider this fixed, because "Germany" is not the name of the region, and Wikipedia appears to agree with me:
* https://nds.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%BC%C3%BCtschland
* https://nds.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plattdüütsch

Thus the language/region string still needs to be fixed.

Thanks for looking this up. I reopened the bug.

Thanks for reopening. Could you also rename the bug to something like "Region nds_DE wrongly titled 'Germany', should be 'Düütschland'"?

I opened bug #363523 for that issue.

I've just looked and the region is now appropriately titled.

Can you please test and confirm if this issue is still occurring or if this bug report can be marked as resolved. I've set the bug status to "needsinfo" pending your response, please change back to "reported" or "resolved" when you respond, thanks.
