Description Stefan Schrijvers 2015-12-24 13:32:06 UTC
KSnapshot used to remember the rectangular region if you would retake a screenshot.
I found this to be a very useful feature.
Could this be added to Spectacle?

Expected results:
1. Start Spectacle.
2. Select "Rectangular Region" in the "Area" combo box.
3. Press "Take New Screenshot".
4. Select a region and press enter.
5. Press "Take New Screenshot" again.
6. Previous rectangular region is selected.

I second this request. I'm back on ksnapshot for this specific feature. On the announcement for spectacle replacing ksnapshot it was very specific, " In addition to what you could do with KSnapshot..." so I was disappointed to find this feature, and the save as feature both missing.

Very annoying bug indeed as I used this feature all the time. Please bring it back. I dont want to manually install KSnaphot.

Right, I forgot about this. Gimme until the next weekend (semester is in session, I don't have the time to immediately fix things). I'll fix a bunch of bugs with the rectangular cropper at one go, including this.

Actually, never mind. Fixed it now. Wasn't hard.

Spectacle

Version 15.12.1
KDE Frameworks 5.18.0
Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1)

still does NOT remember.

Can anyone explain how to install old Ksnapshot ?
Spectacle is totally useless for me.

As told: https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=spectacle.git&a=commit&h=51b7367513832c682506cc323664f2e236916c2c

"BUG: 357120
FIXED-IN: 16.04 "

If you want to use the fixed version now you could grab the snaphot and compile it.

At here, with the Arch, getting the Spectacle snapshot - spectacle-51b7367.tar.gz.
Wrapping it as spectacle-git: compiling, installing ... the Spectacle is remembering rectangular region when retaking screenshot.

Has this feature been removed? It's doesn't seem to be present in version "16.08.3 - Sorry For Any Inconvenience"

With the:

$ spectacle -v
spectacle 16.12.2 - Orderly Transfer of Power

The Spectacle is remembering IF the 'Remember Rectangular Region' is on: http://imgur.com/Upf00yv
