Description Angelos Skembris 2015-12-16 12:43:09 UTC
Whenever Kile is open, Dolphin will freeze, especially when I try to access the home directory - sometimes Dolphin may continue working, sometimes not, but even if it does continue, accessing "Home" will cause it to freeze.

Once Kile is closed, dolphin will continue working normally.

Dolphin windows opened after Kile causes the freeze will exhibit the same behaviour - frozen until Kile is closed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Kile and a Tex document
2. Open dolphin (if not already open), go to "home"
3. Try to do anything in dolphin

Actual Results:
Dolphin is frozen

Expected Results:
Dolphin should continue working normally

I am on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed rpms, Dolphin version 15.08.3, KDE Frameworks 5.17.0, Qt 5.5.1 and using a dual monitor setup with Intel graphics.

Any other information is at your disposal.

Hello, for me this bug also happens permanently on my Arch Linux system and is very annoying.

Would be great if it could be fixed.

You can disable the creation of the lyx pipes in Kile using the configuration dialog ("Let Kile process LyX commands..." option).

However, Dolphin should function properly independently of whether these pipes are there. I'm forwarding this to Dolphin.

Also a problem for me on Ubuntu 15.10. It makes regular use of Kile and Dolphin impossible. The only effective workaround for me, since I need Kile, is to switch to another file manager, e.g. Nemo,

Does this still happen with newer versions of Dolphin?

I've switched to TexStudio over this, but I downloaded the current
Ubuntu kile package and checked, and it seems this bug is indeed gone
with the current versions of kile and Dolphin. I've not done extensive
testing, but it seems that previously the bug emerged immediately, and
I've opened and compiled a dummy document in Kile without any of this
Dolphin pathology showing up.

Thanks for the response, I am going to close this bug in this case. Please reopen the report if you can still reproduce this bug with a newer version of Dolphin.
