If the taskbar is 'auto-hidden' (hamburger-menu >> More Settings >> Auto Hide) and the mouse cursor reaches the lower screen edge - slowly(!), then a light blue indicators glows along the lower screen edge. It increases in visibility (from faint to visible) until the mouse finally reaches the lower screen edge and then the formerly hidden taskbar pops in. I'm fine with that (although this option should be switchable) BUT, if you select the option 'windows can cover' the same glow appears on the already visible taskbar (which was never hidden) - this is quite disturbing as there is some 'noise' coming from nowhere without any reason... Please fix this behaviour to 'glow' only for a hidden taskbar and make this glow user-definable (on/off) Reproducible: Always
There is an option. System Settings -> Desktop Behaviour -> Desktop Effects Untick "Screen Edges"
Thanks for the quick reply, but i wouldn't call it 'resolved', because the combination of glowing screen edges and visible taskbar, but option 'windows can cover' should NOT activate the edge glow
why not?
Well, as far as i understand: the reason for 'glowing' is a visual hint, that there is something which cannot be seen (right now) but will happen if you continue moving the mouse in that same direction. Take the hidden taskbar as an example... it will eventually pop into sight if you touch the screen edge. And a bit before that, there's the hint. But, for a taskbar which is visible and with the option that windows can cover, there is no need for a hint. The taskbar is already in plain sight. You'll only get (in my case) a greyish glow on an already visible taskbar if you move the mouse cursor to the screen edge. The glowing blue is not visible because the taskbar is grey, so you'll get a dirty washed-out black appearing on the screen edge. The whole idea of a notification is gone, i only wonder what that 'dirt' should indicate. And given the case that a full screen window is covering the taskbar, then (and only then) the hint might be useful - because touching the screen edge will eventually show the taskbar in front of the covering window automatically. If it only wasn't dependent on the color of the window covering things and could be an overlay in the glowing blue color... (is there an option to choose the glow-color, btw?) Your opinion?
