Description nyanpasu64 2015-12-13 11:11:59 UTC
Every time I open the menu "settings -> configure krita", Krita crashes instantly.

If I have an image open already, I get a BEX64 Windows crash dialog. If not, I don't get any message.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Krita.
2. Open Krita.
3. Open menu "settings -> configure krita"

Actual Results:
Krita crashes.

Expected Results:
Krita opens settings dialog.

laptop intel 5500u with 5500 graphics
switchable amd r9 m275x
windows 7 x64
mactype installed. this bug occurs even when closed.

I Googled, some related-looking bug report(s) mentioned LLVM or GPU drivers.

Maybe I have bad Intel drivers.

Hi,

I do suspect the drivers, because on my windows test systems the crash doesn't happen. Which version are you using exactly? The animation beta, or regular 2.9.10? And if you remove the krita configuration (%APPDATA%\Roaming\krita), does it still happen?

I'm using regular 2.9.10, but it identifies itself as 2.9.9. I originally installed 2.9.9.1, upgraded, then un/reinstalled, and it still thinks it's 2.9.9. That is another bug.

If I delete the configuration, it still happens. I found this bug the very first time I tried installing (2.9.9.1).

I'm a first-time (un)user, what's the animation beta?

I'm updating my Intel drivers.

Additionally, it occasionally crashes when creating new image. I've only observed this when mactype is enabled???

I tried updating to latest Intel and AMD drivers and disabling MacType from starting at system boot (no potential for hooks), but the crash still happens.

Does not happen on Safe Mode.

What is 'mactype'? That doesn't ring a bell. The 2.9.10 builds indeed say they're 2.9.9, I made the builds before Cyrille updated the version number, accidentally.

Hooks into font rendering (doesn't hook hardware accelerated) and replaces with Freetype for smoother Mac-like appearance.

I don't think that's relevant for this bug, actually.
Comment 6 Halla Rempt 2015-12-14 10:27:02 UTC
Probably not, though Krita is built on Qt, which uses freetype too for font rendering, so there might be something weird going on.
Comment 7 nyanpasu64 2015-12-25 12:40:01 UTC
pretty sure my opengl drivers are hosed.

Okay -- I'm afraid there isn't much I can do then.
