Description Unknown 2015-12-10 23:21:37 UTC
Small bug,

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Kdenlive (and/or restart Kdenlive)

Actual Results:
The audio signal widget doesn't show the level indicator numbers, intitially.

Expected Results:
The audio signal should show the level indicator numbers - if the widget width had already shown them before (I know if the widget of the widget is narrow, then the levels won't show).

Tested using packages from vpinon's Wily PPA on Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 x64 w/ GNOME 3.16.

It looks like this issue has been resolved in the latest kdenlive-git master builds. Marking this issue as resolved. Thanks!

My bad. Looks like this is still present in Kdenlive-git after all. Re-opening bug.

I can reproduce. By the way, I wanted your opinion on the new monitor's audio level (in the monitor toolbar). Do you think it is still necessary to have that full size Audio Signal ?

I was thinking that maybe with a few improvements, the monitor audio level could completely replace the full size audio signal, but not sure what other people think..

Good question. I was wondering that myself while using it.

Casual and semi-pro users, I think, would do more than fine with the audio levels in the clip monitor, but I feel that professionals would need to see the decibel numbers to feel comfortable with more precise audio mixing.

If you could put the decibel numbers in a nice looking way next to, or above, or below, or in between the level bars in the monitors, I think you could do away with the widget. Looking through a number of video editors and audio mixers, the most common numeral scale goes like this: 0 6 12 18 24. These would probably be the best numbers to display.

(Side note: I might also encourage this range to be the actual "measuring stick" of your audio levels indicators, rather than the one currently in place. There's a lot of audio sounds that range in between -20 to -10db; that can make it more difficult to see anything in between. The current audio levels seems to reserve most of the space in it for the highest levels, instead of evenly spread out.)

Hope that helps!

Also, I REALLY like the new audio levels in the monitors. :) Nice work.

Just saw the monitor audio level indicator changes in the latest 15.13.0 master-git build. Looks AWESOME! I'd be perfectly satisfied as a professional to work with this. :)

So yes, you have my vote: the audio level widget would be unneeded for me at this point. If the consensus is with me, I'd say yeah, drop the widget and save yourself any extra effort with it. :)

Great work sir!
