Description mludvig 2015-12-03 05:28:16 UTC
I work with a few external monitors - the one at home is 90° pivoted, one at work is not, projector is meant to be a mirror of my desktop, etc. In KDE4 these different configurations used to be remembered by KDE and the monitors were properly configured as they should be upon plug in. I guess based on their serial numbers or something like that.

Plasma5 however doesn't seem to differentiate and always tries to apply the previous setting. That's particularly annoying since one monitor is 90° pivoted and after switching between them I have to open "Configure Desktop" -> "Display and Monitor" and try to navigate the mouse on the pivoted screen through the settings - quite a challenge.

This is a regression from KDE4 and one single thing that seriously makes me think of going back to an older distro.

Reproducible: Always

Possibly duplicate of the bug 346961
Comment 2 Peter Tselios 2022-05-20 07:51:50 UTC
Is this is an unresolved bug?
I did a clean up in the ~/.local/share/kscreen directory and I had something like 60 different configuration files from all the different places I been in the past, including those from my previous laptop. I didn't have any issue with KDE remembering monitor settings positions, rotation etc since at least 2017.
