I set up a google account (hangout) using the wizard, and It correctly managed the two-factor auth step.
After this successful step, telepathy is unable to complete the login phase, after some pondering I get a notification stating that some error happened during login and suggesting to check the password (obviously correct). Out of curiosity, I checked stored passwords with kwalletmanager and I can't recognize any entry related to telepathy (not sure to be able to recognize them..)
