Description Tom Canavan 2015-11-14 04:53:43 UTC
I'll be working and all of a sudden when I open windows, the window decorations are back to the defaults. That's the first clue. Then the apps like dolphin lost their operational settings. So does the desktop, wallpaper and everything I've set in system settings. Gone is the panel with all its icons. Poof! My email is gone and so are my contacts.
When I check about kde, it doesn't give a version. It's the one that came with fedora 23. That's all I know to tell you. When I lose important email, I consider it critical.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.There are no steps to reproduce. It happens randomly. I do always have several apps open including dolphin, kmail, konsole and kwrite and sometimes kdiff3
2.
3.

This is the worst kde implementation I have ever seen. And I've been using Red hat software since Red hat 9 -- Shrike. It was definitely too unstable to ship.

Oh yes,and my .bashrc is gone too. Command prompt in konsole is altered to just say "bash" instead of my user name. A custom path that I exported to the environment is wiped out too. This is important because a lot of my scripts depend on it. This is just sickening.

Also firefox settings are wiped out along with all my bookmarks, so it's not just kde apps that are affected.

What file system is used for /home? This does not sound like a problem caused by KDE software. You should first ask for help on a user forum. When the cause of the issue is found, you can add the information to this ticket.

File system is ext4. I will do as you suggest. I will post in a fedora forum. Maybe it's their problem. Sounds to me like the database is losing the info. Thanks.

The BIOS is ready when the source file is not! Please fix the error and the hard drive failure points as well. Thanks !

openSUSE version 11.4 is completely outdated, please ask for help in a forum of your distribution how to update your system.

Closing as it is stale and we don't have enough information to reproduce. Please comment if it's still happening.
