I entered a text string in the kmail search box and the mailer crashed. The problem repeats.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Is there any chance you could try to reproduce this with a recent version of KMail? Recent versions start with "5."; sad to say that the 4.x versions are basically unsupported.
