Are you sure this is related to or caused by sddm? Is this reproducible with a LiveCD (either Kubuntu 15.04 or 15.10)?
Comment 2 halifax 2015-10-31 02:14:26 UTC
Hi Christoph!
I'm NO expert at all, but problems are gone for about 5' after sddm-restart . . .
These problems started with an overflow of root-partition, caused by setting of a VirtualBox-snapshot.
So my bug-report is just informational and developers might improve KDE-desktop to be more crash-tolerant.
The problem is not hardware-related as with the upgrade to Kubuntu 15.10 yesterday everything is fine again . . . so start of a Kubuntu-Live-CD > 15.04 will be fine aswell.
There should be a way for USERS to 'repair' their installation next time keyboard and mouse-switches stop operating, as reinstallation/upgrade of Kubuntu isn't a serious choice . . .

Good night and sleep well!
Gute Nacht
Manfred

I don't suppose this is still happening in any recent versions of Plasma 5?
