Description Brian Armstrong 2015-10-28 23:47:29 UTC
Under the Configure - Akregator - Browser Settings
Please provide the option to select no action for the Left mouse click. Currently, it provides only the three "open" action choices. The challenge for me is that this causes numerous tabs or external browser openings when mouse clicking on articles to read, cluttering up the desktop and causing long waits for the tabs to complete starting up. My dirty quick fix has been to remove the external browser application name (or, use a fake app name) and select the "Use this command" option. But, this remove the simple, eloquent method of simply clicking on an article.
Solution: Add "No action" to both the "Left Mouse Click" and "Middle Mouse Click" setting choices, and add "Right Mouse Click" to the dialog box. Add both "Open in External Browser" and "Open in a Tab" dialog choices so that if one uses the selected Left/Middle mouse button, it will provide dialog box with the two choices, requiring a right mouse selection to activate.

Rationale: This will provide greater flexibility for the user and prevent the frustration that I have seen family and friends experience when they attempt to use and enjoy Akregator. It might when back some users to this wonderful news feed reader.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use mouse to navigate articles.
2. Use mouse buttons to click on articles.

Or. Attempting to select multiple articles for labeling as read by using the mouse, results in multiple file openings.

Actual Results:
Multiple browser or tab openings and a delay in using the software or browser(s) while they complete opening the tabs or browser windows.

Expected Results:
Provide the choice to select opening an article in a tab or external browser within the news feed main screen.

Be able to select multiple news articles by mouse clicks to select as read or archive, or another action.

The current method is annoying and making me look to other news feed reader options. I have been enjoying Akregator for many years and hope to continue using it.

Please make your choice for the default for the user's Browser Component settings. As long as I can configure Akregator for my preferences, I will be very satisfied with Akregator!

Thank you for a good product.

This is the case for Fedora versions 20 and 21, 64 bit. I will test on Fedora 23, once it becomes available.
