Description Allen Webb 2015-10-27 22:02:31 UTC
The "Version" tab in the about dialog says: """
Version 15.08.2
Using:
KDE Frameworks 5.15.0
Qt 5.4.2 (built against 5.4.2)
The xcb windowing system
"""

Error Dialog is displayed saying "Timeout connecting to <domain name>" whenever I start gwenview to view a local image. The cause is an entry I added to the "Places" panel in dolphin. I can only connect to this entry when I am using a specific VPN. I don't understand why gwenview would be trying to connect to all the entries on my places list anyway. I suppose it may be proactively thumbnailing images, but I don't understand why it is default behavior for gwenview to be trying to connect to every entry on my places list

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Dolphin
2. Right click on places and add an entry that points to an sftp URI of an offline host (Make sure "Only show when using this application" is not checked).
3. Open Gwenview and wait a few seconds.

Actual Results:
The "Timeout connecting to ..." dialog shows up.

Expected Results:
The software should not be connecting to remote URIs to do anything whatsoever without the user explicitly asking it to.

Likely related or even same cause:

Bug 354750 - asks for ssh key password on viewing a local image due to fish:// place in places list

Feel free to mark my bug report as duplicate of this one if its the same cause.
