I get screen artifacts in Plasma 5 at random. It happens on laptops with haswell and broadwell gpus. When compositing type is changed, artifacts disappear. This is easily reproducible in Kubuntu 14.10. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In Kubuntu 14.10 (or live session) go to System settings>Fonts 2. Enable anti-aliasing (additionally, you can set RGB and slight hinting) 3. Artifacts start "dancing" on the screen. They are easily seen with Present windows effect.
Can you please clarify: are you really using Kubuntu 14.10?
In addition please provide: 1. Screenshots (video?) 2. qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation 3. /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Martin, I cannot reproduce the bug anymore on Neon user edition.
Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad that this problem is gone. I guess it's the switch to modesettings driver in X ;-). Setting to worksforme.
(In reply to Martin Gräßlin from comment #5) > I guess it's the switch to modesettings driver in X ;-) Yea probably. Flashing/flickering system tray is also gone with switch to modesettings driver.
