Description RussianNeuroMancer 2015-10-18 14:37:52 UTC
After latest KDE Frameworks (5.15) and KDE Applications (15.08.2) updates on Kubuntu 15.10, kdenlive interface freeze when I try to playback or edit clip added to timeline.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add any clip to project bin (tested avi, mkv, mp4)
2. Try to playback it from project bin.
3. Add this clip to timeline
4. Try to playback timeline or call context menu of clip on timeline.

Actual Results:
On step 2 playback works fine, on step 4 kdenlive interface freeze.

Expected Results:
kdenlive continue to operate normally.

I tried to downgrade kdenlive from 15.08.2 to 15.08.1 (which works fine before) but this doesn't help.
List of packages updates on this weeks is attached. kdenlive backtrace in freeze moment is also attached.

I had the same problem with OpenSuse Tumbleweed using the Packman repo for version 15.08.02.

I can drag a video from the bin to the timeline, but as soon as I click in the timeline Kdenlive freezes.

I downgraded to 15.08.01 from the Tumbleweed repo and all is working again. I figured it was a packaging error, but with 2 different distros, it might be something else.

I also have to add that I used this package https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ci/+archive/ubuntu/stable-daily/+packages?field.name_filter=kdenlive&field.status_filter=published&field.series_filter=vivid for rollback from 15.08.2 to 15.08.1. Maybe this 15.08.1+git20150923.1309+15.04-0 build already include some changes from 15.08.2 that make kdenlive behave like this.

The kdenlive 15.08.2-1 is freezing with the Arch - https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1571830 .

A workaround is to downgrade to the 15.08.1-1.
Comment 6 RussianNeuroMancer 2015-10-20 18:35:49 UTC
15.08.1 has been uploaded instead of 15.08.2 in Kubuntu 15.10 (in proposed for now).

This is essentially a dupe of the ticket I reported: Bug #353936 three days earlier.
Too bad hasn't been even looked at.
