Description Janet 2015-10-14 20:51:27 UTC
Plasma 5 still lacks some widgets which make the desktop "cozy". Apart from a decent weather widget also the picture frame widget is missing. I cannot say that the picture frame widget is useful and that I need it for a certain purpose - but I am missing it it a lot, it helps to make the desktop "mine". Also wish I could have different picture frames for every virtual desktop as I had it in KDE SC 4 but that's another bug/missing feature report...

Reproducible: Always

Thanks for the report
Actually someone new took up working on that this week.

We're tracking progress of porting applets on todo.kde.org.
https://todo.kde.org/?controller=board&action=show&project_id=11

I don't want it here as well as we get duplication of data and they'll get out of sync.
Note there is a bug reported already RE: virtual desktops which is here and open.

Is it possible to see the content without an account? I guess it would be helpful for users so that they don't report things already being worked on.

I was also wondering about this, and found a workaround by using the WebSlice -widget and pointing it to file://path/to/img.file. It works well enough for my purposes (:

Can anyone please indicate how to install this right now without waiting for a future version/package release?

The kdeplasma-addons 5.6.0 with the Media (picture) frame plasmoid was released 2016-03-22 : https://community.kde.org/Schedules/Plasma_5

With the older plasma the KDE forums has an example: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=124937&start=15#p350512
