crash is every time due to a segfaut. When I disable movit, I can add photo clips ok. 

Reproducible: Always

it is particularly sad that the main effect I use is Pan and Zoom, which is GPU-only now.

kdenlive crash when movit is enabled and jpg clip is in the project bin

I recompiled kdenlive, mlt, movit with gdb support. Please let me know if I need to add gdb info for other libraries. The crash happens every time and I can generate the backtrace as many times as needed.

Anton would you mind testing with latest release and post the backtrace if any. Otherwise please close this. Thanks

Movit works for me for quite some time on MESA/Haswell OpenGL (doesn't work with GLES).
