Note: this bug is really for Application Dashboard widget, but I couldn't find it in the list, so I chose Application Launcher. When selecting Application Dashboard in alternatives instead of default Application Launcher, plasmashell starts eating a lot of CPU and freezing for long periods of time. It's almost impossible to switch back after that. My system: Debian testing x86_64, KDE Plasma 5.4.2. GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 (closed driver 355.11). Compositing is enabled with OpenGL 3.1 and GLX interface. I also described some details here: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=128589 Reproducible: Always As a workaround, one can log out of KDE (or restart sddm from tty), and then manually remove this entry from: $HOME/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc which will reset launcher to default one.
