Description kelna91 2015-10-03 19:13:06 UTC
When I download or upload w/ full bandwidth, the graph and the current data rate indicator below that show twice as much as my real bandwidth. The network manager panel shows the correct number, which is half of what ksysguard shows.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Pay for 30 Mbps.
2. Ksysguard measures 60 Mbps, yay!
3. network manager and speedtest.net measures 30 Mbps. There's no magic here. :(

Actual Results:
Ksysguard showed a falsy value. Twice of the actual.

Expected Results:
I expect it to show the real thing.

I cannot explain this better. No additional information.

Where you using a VPN at the time? I can reproduce with VPN active which makes sense since ksysguard does a sum of network traffic.

Can you reproduce this issue with current version of ksysguard?
Comment 3 Jimmy Berry 2019-03-12 19:52:51 UTC
I cannot reproduce.

I don't even use KDE anymore - not now at least.

But Jimmy seemingly answered the mystery: I was most probably using a VPN at that time. So it's probably not a bug, but I don't think measurement should work this way. 30 Mb left my computer in a second, not 60. I don't think it's useful information for the user how much data is passed between physical and logical network interfaces combined.

You are right, someone found the cause for this. It is tracked in bug 354350.
