Description Ezio Vergine 2015-09-29 11:39:34 UTC
"Find messages" find only one mail and don't consider any type of filter specified.
I think the problem is related to the indexing system (baloo?).
There are some a config file somewhere where I can say to kmail "reindex all emails"?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open "Find message windows"
2. Search something
3.

Actual Results:
Always one mail is find (and doesn't respect the search criteria)

Expected Results:
All the mail that respect the search criteria)

Kmail Version 5.0.1
KDE Frameworks 5.14.0
Qt 5.5.0 (built against 5.5.0)

Is this bug the same as reported on 352472?

I think you can (re)start indexing by deleting ./config/baloorc (or perhaps setting "initialIndexingDone=false" there) followed by "akonadictl restart". However, search still doesn't work for me.

I've deleted baloo directory, stopped and restarted baloo and akonadi server. Now I have no result at all during mail search
Comment 4 Tom Warnke 2016-01-14 12:35:08 UTC
Is this still an issue in KMail 5.1.1? I had a similar problem, but it seems to be fixed now.
Also, possible duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352472.
Comment 5 kramski 2016-01-14 14:20:53 UTC
Unfortunately still unresolved with KMail 5.1.1.
Comment 6 Ezio Vergine 2016-01-14 14:59:10 UTC
With kmail 5.1.1, now I haven't result at all.

There is something I can do with configuration files, like "reindex" or something similar?

Thanks for your support

You could first check if you have a process called akonadi_indexing_agent running. If not, try installing a package called akonadi-search.
If the problem persists, can you try with a fresh user? I.e., set up an IMAP account, let it download and index some emails, and try to search in them? This should show if some configuration error is the reason.
Comment 8 Ezio Vergine 2016-01-14 17:25:14 UTC
I confirm that I have a process called akonadi_indexing_agent running.
In a couple of hours I will create a new profile and I will configure a google account, as you advice.

thansk for your support

OK, I think I am able to reproduce the bug. Can you confirm the following: If a search fails, i.e. returns no or wrong results, deleting the corresponding search folder breaks the folder tree view. The folder tree view can only be restored by restarting kmail.
Comment 10 Ezio Vergine 2016-01-14 18:07:16 UTC
Yes, same behaviour form me. After kmail restart, the search return no result.
Comment 11 Denis Kurz 2017-01-13 13:23:56 UTC
Please note that the bug that destroys the folder list is a different bug which has been fixed around version 5.3.0, I think. Anyway, it is unrelated to the original bug described here, which is a duplicate.

Please always report different bugs in different reports. Mixing up several bugs in one report makes it much harder to tell which comment refers to which symptoms, which makes bug hunting much harder. If in doubt, open a new report.
