OMEMO tries to bring easy, mass compatible (like OTR, unlike GPG) encryption including multi-device capabilities and offline chats (like GPG, unlike OTR) to XMPP chat. Having Kopete as desktop client supporting it could help spreading encryption for IM.

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
