When connecting the laptop (Lenovo Thinlpad w540) to an external monitor on docking station the screen configuration works only after a reboot. After suspend the configuration is not accepted. In older versions the dual, triple screen configuration was sometimes automatically detected and remembered. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Connect laptop after suspend to the docking station 2. Try to configure with systemsettings (autoconfiguration does not work in any case) 3. Nothing works as expected Actual Results: Poor usability Expected Results: Screen configuration should be automatically detected and remembered for next time. This kind of usability bugs has affected Linux laptops as long as I can remember. Suspend/hibernate features support are crucial for adopting Linux on laptops.
Perhaps this information may be useful to find why kscreen doesn't detect the secondary screen. Using arandr after kscreen I am able to activate the secondary screen.
I have de some problem with my Vaio Notebook. Kscreen Version: 4:5.4.2-0ubuntu1 Kubuntu 15.10 (Linux kde5 4.2.0-16-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 8 15:35:06 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) Graphical Information: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 945GM with Mesa 11.02
Thank you for the bug report. As this report hasn't seen any changes in 5 years or more, we ask if you can please confirm that the issue still persists. If this bug is no longer persisting or relevant please change the status to resolved.
I have stopped using the docking station, it wasn't worth using it with the remaining problems, but I continue to use the laptop and kscreen, so I cannot confirm whether the problem persists.
Ok, thanks for the info. There's nothing we can do if you're unable to reproduce the original issue.
