Description Weng Xuetian 2015-09-16 03:35:25 UTC
I'm using KF5 (5.14.0) with qt5 based akonadi (15.08.1).

When akonadi is started automatically on the login (e.g. korganizer or kalarm request it), the whole login process is slow down by tens of seconds.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. enable korganizer daemon
2. login to the system

Actual Results:
ksplash progress bar stuck at the 80% for very long time.

Expected Results:
login faster than that.

I confirm this.

Stlls with a number of "Identifier argument missing" in .xsession-errors

Related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353203 ?
Comment 5 David Faure 2015-11-03 07:38:31 UTC
There is no relation (that I can think of) between akonadi and kservice, so either this is a bug in one or in the other. This being said, it could be that 353203 is just mis-categorized.

I can confirm this too, started after upgrading to KF-5.16.0. Weird thing is that I did this on two almost-identical laptops, but only on one of them this is occurring.Akonadi config between the two is almost identical, even to the point of having the same mail accounts configured, and the same backend (PostgreSQL).
Comment 7 Marc Cousin 2015-11-29 16:56:00 UTC
Same here, but with an almost empty akonadi configuration… all mail is done through thunderbird.
Comment 8 raphael.cazenave 2015-11-29 16:59:19 UTC
@Godlike, @'Marc Cousin',
did you try 'StartServer=false' in ~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc (like the default configuration in openSUSE) ?
Comment 9 godlike 2015-11-29 20:10:14 UTC
@raphael.cazenave it did not matter much, but I did notice the slowing down to be almost gone since I've switched from mysql to postgres, with a full fledged DB (no embedded one).

There's some serious breakage though with the config file. It appears changed don't get saved from the akonadi settings interface to the akonadiserverrc file properly. Sometimes the [%General] section gets written twice (once for the old value, once for the new one), but I gather that's material for a new bug.

For some reason that I don't know, currently I don't have such problem with kf 5.17 kde app 15.12.0, and plasma 5.5.0. Is that the case for every one here?
Comment 12 Søren Holm 2016-03-10 17:01:44 UTC
Yes - login is very fast wil 15.12 on kubuntu 16.04 :)
Comment 13 Martin Stockhammer 2016-03-11 09:28:03 UTC
I'm using the back ported version "Plasma 5.5.3 and Frameworks 5.18.0 Backported to Kubuntu 15.10" and that did not really change anything.
