Using libpam-kwallet5 with sddm, the login to desktop hangs. Package versions: sddm: 0.12.0-1 libpam-kwallet5: 5.4.0-1 sddm-theme-breeze: 5.4.0-1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. apt-get install libpam-kwallet5 sddm 2. Log out, log back in 3. Observe the splash screen progresses part way, fades/blanks to black. Actual Results: Login progresses partway through the breeze splash/intro thing after logging in to your KDE desktop with sddm. However, at that certain point the intro fades/blanks to a black screen with only a cursor. The cursor can be moved, but the desktop itself does not come up and right clicking or alt+f2 shortcuts have no effect. This situation persists for minutes (at least 3). Expected Results: I'd expected the login to continue normally, resulting in a fully useable desktop with an automatically unlocked KDE wallet. Trying to eliminate configuration by deleting rc files in ~/.config does not cure the problem. Uninstalling libpam-kwallet5 'magically' resolves the issue.
Created attachment 94490 [details] Logs extracted using journalctl Log information extracted using journalctl.
Note that the useful part of the log stops at: Sep 09 02:05:11 Lailaps sudo[979]: prometheus : TTY=tty2 ; PWD=/home/prometheus ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/bin/systemctl stop sddm.service (Which is when I got fed up and used systemctl to kill the things.)
I can reproduce this bug on archlinux, after I added pam_kwallet5.so into /etc/pam.d/sddm. This is my /etc/pam.d/sddm: http://cfp.vim-cn.com/ccfY This is journalctl: http://cfp.vim-cn.com/ccfX
This affects me too with plasma 5.4.0 and sddm 0.12.0. The progress bar in ksplash stalls at around 25%.
I have a very similar problem, but the triggering package is libkf5wallet-bin [on debian testing]. Please tell me what additional info I can provide.
Solved by today's update to version 5.14.0-1
Conformed that this have been solved on archlinux with today's update of KDE
