A few questions:

a) do you have kcalc (which is a separate application) installed on your system and
b) can you start it from a shell?

In case you don't have it installed and want to use a different calculator, please use the KMyMoney settings (bottom of general options tab) for a different application.

Yes, I have kcalc installed and I have uninstall and reinstalled it. I can run it from the shell as well. Should I UN-install and reinstall KmyMoney?

Try to enter the full path and filename to KCalc in the KMyMoney settings field for the external calculator and check if that does it.
Comment 4 Ralf Habacker 2019-10-24 08:37:29 UTC
Entering a full path in the general setting tab works as expected. Entering an invalid path shows an error message that the executable could not be found, which indicates, that kmymoney is really using this setting.
