Description Soukyuu 2015-09-01 15:36:40 UTC
After updating to 15.08, I can no longer drag and drop files to WINE applications. The same operation worked on 15.04, and still works with konqueror (which uses KDE4 dolphinpart).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open a WINE application (i.e. foobar2000)
2. open dolphin
3. attempt to drag and drop music files on foobar2000

Actual Results:
The cursor never changes to "drop possible", letting go anyway doesn't open the file

Expected Results:
The cursor should change to "drop possible" (cursor + a green plus sign), letting go should add files to foobar2000's playlist

KF 5.13.0
Qt 5.5.0 (built against 5.5.0)

Might be somehow related to bug #352019, as it's also a drag&drop issue which only happens with the kf5 version...

Thanks for the bug report. Just to check if this is a Dolphin issue or not, can you try to drag files from the file dialog of KWrite and see if you can drop them in the target window?

Does trying with Kate's file dialog count? That doesn't seem to be working, either, so maybe it's a more general bug.
Comment 3 Frank Reininghaus 2015-09-10 21:18:31 UTC
Thanks. I'm not quite sure if this could be a bug somewhere in KDE, or if it's a Qt issue, so I currently don't know where to assign it, but maybe someone else has an idea.

I agree with comment #2 that this may be a more general bug: I (and others, see the last two messages in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=192759) have noticed that drag and drop fron dolphin5 does not work to Chromium, whereas it does work from dolphin4.
Comment 5 Andreas Roth 2015-10-10 14:10:24 UTC
I'm using Kubuntu 15.10 (wily) with dolphin version 4:15.08.1-0ubuntu2. I tried to drag a file into filebot (http://www.filebot.net/; file rename tool written in java) from dolphin, but filebot did not accept the file. Then i tried konqueror (in file browser mode; version 4.14.11) and drag the same file successfully into filebot.

This is because Konqueror still uses kdelibs 4.x/Qt 4. Maybe this is a Qt bug which has been introduced in Qt 5.

Still happening with 15.12 and Qt 5.5.1. I've wrote (well, copied together) a small test app and only dragging to a qt4 app works from a qt5 app (and vice versa). Dragging from a qt5 app to a non-qt app does not work. So it looks like a bug in qt5 to me.

Great, thanks! Could you please file a Qt bug then (https://bugreports.qt.io/secure/Dashboard.jspa) and attach your test app to the report? It would also be great if you could post a link to the Qt bug report here. Thanks!

Seem to have kind of missed the last reply, reported the bug now, see https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-50372
