Also: I started using (a copy of) the same database with Ubuntu, and that works fine. So I think the database as such is not the problem. Yes, I have seen this: http://www.sqlite.org/lockingv3.html (reported in this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342313) But wouldn't know what to do with it. (My capacities are limited for digging into real technical stuff.)

I don't get that message anymore. I guess that's okay now? And if not: is there a way to install it? How do I do that?

the VLC plugin must be included into windows installer. It's a shared dll typically. Gilles Caulier

I reinstalled VLC Media Player. That doesn't make a difference.
Can you access to KDE control panel ? there is a section to tune Phonon backend.
Where is that? I guess: KDE Release/System Settings/Hardware/Multimedia. But when I try to open 'Multimedia', the settings manager... keeps hanging... :-)
