I am used to add fades and fade to blacks directly on the timeline. Just recently I am noticing that if I have a transition over a video clip, clicking on the video clip does not pop it over the transition so that I can drag in the fade from black effect. I do remember another bug where someone requested this sort of behavior, but there may still be room for improvement in the implementation. Clicking on a clip in the timeline should pop it to the foreground so that one can add fades. Also, clicking on a clip should also pop forward any transitions that are between that clip and a clip on the track below. This will obscure the bottom corners of the active clip, but since there are no shortcuts on there, it should be OK. I do believe that this requested behaviour would be the best fit in all cases. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add a color clip to the timeline, and shorten to 3 seconds. 2. Add a video clip to the timeline, and stick it right next to the color clip. 3. Create and add a title clip, five seconds in length, to the track above the track with the color and video clips. 4. Add a fade from black to the video clip on the timeline. Actual Results: Clicking on the video clip does not pop up the clip over the transition. Expected Results: Clicking on the video clip to pop the video clip over the transition so that it's possible to drag in the fade from black.
Evert, I cannot reproduce on recent Kdenlive beta 16.07.90. I now that there was some issue some time ago, as I noticed this myself. However in the current beta, clicking on a timeline clip correctly brings it to the front as expected. I'm thus closing this as resolved. If you happen to see this issue again on your system even with the most recent beta or git master, feel free to reopen this report. Thank you very much for your cooperation!
