Description Greg Lepore 2015-08-06 18:24:18 UTC
Had this problem since early July. Clicking once on the Show Desktop widget does nothing, the second click activates the functionality.

Checking events with xev, everything appears normal. Mouse is a Logitech M-SBF96, which occasionally displays other issues (random mouse jumping around), but has not had a problem clicking before. Problem occurs with different mouse as well.

Issue has happened to others:

https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php?68558-Two-click-on-the-icon-quot-Show-desktop-plasma-quot

I'd be glad to troubleshoot if someone tells me what to do.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on icon
2. Nothing happens
3. Click again, desktop is shown

Actual Results:
Desktop appears on second click

Expected Results:
Desktop appears on first click

seems to work here.

What version of Plasma?

Do you get it for any other plasmoids?

where have you put your show desktop button?
Comment 2 Greg Lepore 2015-08-06 23:12:40 UTC
Plasma version 5.3.1, but I just recently upgraded, don't know the previous version, but it did occur there as well. I upgraded with the Kubuntu-ci ppa.

The issue only occurs with the Show Desktop plasmoid.

The button is between to the K start menu and application launcher icons.

Not Task Manager then.

Just upgraded to Kubuntu Wily Beta 1, with plasma 5.4.0 and QT 5.4.2 and the problem appears to be fixed.

Hurray, thanks for reporting back
Comment 6 Greg Lepore 2015-10-15 11:08:51 UTC
Changing status back to Unconfirmed as the problem still appears, although much, much less frequently. Perhaps one in fifty times I click on the Show Desktop plasma icon.

Can anyone else confirm it still happens occasionally?
Comment 7 Greg Lepore 2015-10-15 11:11:02 UTC
The new behavior when it occurs is that the Desktop flashes on to the screen very quickly, but the current window returns (I'm talking a hundredths of a second flash), then the second click does nothing, but the third click behaves normally.

Is there anything I can do to help troubleshoot? Obtaining video of the problem would be difficult, but I'd be willing to try.

Video showing problem

Attached is a video showing the problem occurring. The process in the video is as follows:

1. Open Yakuake to start video recording
2. Click on Show Desktop - results are correct, the Desktop is shown
3. Show and hide Yakuake 4 times, click on Show Desktop - results are correct
4. Show and hide Yakuake 9 times, click on Show Desktop - PROBLEM
4a. Desktop shows for a split second
4b. Window under Yakuake is now focused
5. Clicking on Show Desktop once more does nothing
6. Clicking on Show Desktop a second time works

Similar behaviour here: two or more click especially when switch to another desktop and try to maximize window (sometime after clicking show.hide desktop) it require two or more clicks.

Fresh update: gentoo,

kde-plasma/plasma-workspace 5.8.3-r4, kde-apps/kdebase-meta 16.04.3, kde-plasma/kdeplasma-addons 5.8.3

After latest update it works ok - windows raised by one click, but after some days two clicks requires again. Please check.

Thanks.
