Description Martin Zbořil 2015-08-05 16:02:57 UTC
this does not happen so often and I am not yet sure what causes it, all I want from it is to be able to execute a command from krunner, but sometimes when alt+f2 is pressed and krunner shows up, nothing is shown when when I press some keys, only way to redeem this is to restart the krunner.

I am sorry, I dont have any more information at this time as I was not able to find a way how to reproduce the bug. I now removed most of unneeded modules and will try strace it next time when it happens.

since of removal of bugreport menu entry, I am unable to double-check what version i am using, so please find it yourselves, its a default of Kubuntu 15.04 from package plasma-workspace 4:5.2.2-0ubuntu3

Confirmed. This is bloody annoying. We (dfaure and I) managed to reproduce this by running krunner under hellgrind which slowed it down.

It's on my list of things to fix. Thanks for reporting.

Me, too.
Even if it doesn't happen often, the error won't disappear by itself. I had it twice:

First, it stayed for many reboots, after I had to fix a problem with kscreen and tried to remove .cache and some other things in .local or .kde, it worked again.

Second, just today, I opened a new session (Alt-F8) with another user, while leaving the previous one open (Alt-F7). Then closed the new one again and then the error appeared again. I got it running again by rebooting (maybe restart of KDE would have worked, too.)

My error description:
Neither Alt-F2, nor right click on desktop and run command allowed to find or run an application. It was possible to type something, but return wouldn't do anything. No auto completion of the typed text, nor actions. BUT: Opening the K-Menu and typing a command worked as before and as it should. I don't know, if there is another command than krunner behind that.

I'm using kubuntu 15.04 with backport of KDE Plattform-Version 4.14.8
