When I open Kate, either openig new document, or just starting with new document, the caret is in text editor, but focus is not there. Essentialy it means, that it seems that I can start typing, but key presses are ignored by Kate. I can only start to type when I click into the text editor.

It's no life stopper, but it's rather incovenient that I have to click into it every time.
I don't know if it's a problem of Kate or Plasma 5, since in Plasma 4 it didn't happen and also it doesn't happen in other text editors.
