Description Bernhard Scheirle 2015-07-23 16:32:37 UTC
Quotation marks »"« don't get handled correctly in the »To« field.

Sending an e-mail to »"me@domain.tld"« generates a mail without the »To:« field.
If you send it to multiple recipients only the addresses which are in Quotation marks are missing.
Note: The e-mail still gets delivered to _all_ recipients.

Opening an e-mail with a recipients address in quotation marks shows only an empty »To« field (even if there are additional recipients address without quotation marks).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Sending:
1. Send an e-mail to yourself. But put the recipient address in Quotation marks e.g. »To: "me@domain.tld"«

Receiving:
1. Open the attached e-mail. (Opening the above send message isn't the same the attached message. The attached e-mail does contain a »To« field.)

Actual Results:
Sending:
»To« field is missing / recipients address in quotation marks gets removed.

Receiving:
»To« field in the message view is empty

Expected Results:
Sending:
Add the addresses to the »To« field

Receiving:
Displays the addresses

it's not a valid email.
So normal that we can"t see it.

Yeah I already assumed that too.
I just got such an e-mail from Microsoft Office Outlook 12.0.
Comment 4 Denis Kurz 2017-06-23 19:57:37 UTC
This bug has never been confirmed for a KDE PIM version that is based on KDE Frameworks (5.x). Those versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the oportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it.

Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.
Comment 5 Bernhard Scheirle 2017-06-24 16:31:52 UTC
Still reproduce able in kmail2 5.5.2
Comment 6 Christoph Feck 2017-06-27 15:59:04 UTC
Thanks for the update; reopening.

Thank you for reporting this issue in KDE software. As it has been a while since this issue was reported, can we please ask you to see if you can reproduce the issue with a recent software version?

If you can reproduce the issue, please change the status to "REPORTED" when replying. Thank you!
