When I recieve an e-mail with attachment, I can see this mail with attachment icon in kmail message list. But as soon as it synchronizes with IMAP server, icon is gone. It is nicely described here in this comment: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=291332#c24 There is also a bug report for kmail with exactly this issue (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286692). Both are in resolved state but problem is still here so I am opening akonadi-specific issue. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Receive an e-mail to your IMAP resource with attachment. 2. You should see the e-mail with attachment flag i kmail message list. 3. Mark it e.g. as "important" so synchronization of this mail with IMAP server is triggered. Actual Results: Attachment icon disappears and never appears again. Expected Results: Once attachment icon is there, it should be persistent. There should probably be one fixed way (for a specific IMAP resource) to determine e-mail has an attachment (e.g. from e-mail body) and this information should be stored outside synchronizable IMAP flags if this flag is not supported by the server. But maybe I get this whole problem wrong... I am no IMAP expert. I was testing this with: KMail 4.14.10 (KDE Frameworks 5.12; Plasma 5.3.2; KDE Applications 15.04.3)
After playing a bit around i noticed that it seems (i havent checked every email) to only happen on the INBOX, not on any other directory.
I think it is reproducible on any folder, not just INBOX. I have all my e-mails in Sent folder also without attachment flag although some of them have attachments.
This bug has never been confirmed for a Kontact version that is based on KDE Frameworks, except possibly a Technology Preview version 5.0.x. Those versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the opportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it. Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.
Sorry, I forgot to check - now it seems to be fixed, thanks!! I'm using Arch linux and: akonadictl / KMail 5.5.2 KF 5.35 KDE Applications 17.04.2 I'm marking it resolved.
