Description A. Fachat 2015-07-19 20:02:30 UTC
Basically you can copy over the description of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343570
here. I'm not sure if I should open up a bug because mine is for kubuntu and 5.3 backports instead of some openSuSE version 4.x

1) plug in an Android smartphone via USB (configured as MTP device)
2) in the KDE devices popup, select "Open with File Manager"

Expected:
Dolphin opens and shows the root folder of the phone (with SD card and internal memory, at least that's what I expect on my Galaxy S3 or Galaxy S5 mini)

Observed:
Dolphin opens and shows nothing.
In earlier versions an error message about the "mtp protocol died unexpectedly" was sometimes observed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1) plug in an Android smartphone via USB (configured as MTP device)
2) in the KDE devices popup, select "Open with File Manager"

Actual Results:
Observed:
Dolphin opens and shows nothing.
In earlier versions an error message about the "mtp protocol died unexpectedly" was sometimes observed.

Expected Results:
Expected:

That is on kubuntu 15.04 with KDE 5.3 backports repositories enabled.

Gnome Nautilus works mighty fine!

I confirm this problem which is surprising as Samsung Phones are based on Linux and we have no problem under windows7,8,10 OS.

Thanks to solve it as soon as possible.

UI desagree with the mention UNCONFIRMED

Plesa try to do what is mentionned.

I get exactly the same with a Galaxy Tab S2 tablet. The trace in my .xsession file is:

kde.kio-mtp: No Error, continuing
